Is It Secure - DataDepot Online Backup
Security and privacy are at the core of the DataDepot service offering. EMA has taken many steps to ensure the security and confidentiality of our clients’ information, including the following:
- Secure Backups:To secure customer information that is transferred to the DataDepot system, the client software encrypts every file with encryption keys provided by the customer. The files remain encrypted on the system’s storage at all times.
- Secure Restores: The decryption process occurs on the client machine, at the client location. This ensures that any information transferred and stored outside the customer location is always encrypted.
- Encryption: Clients can chose either the DES encryption algorithm (56-bit encryption key), or AES encryption algorithm (128-bit, 192-bit, or 256-bit).
- Privacy: Regulations related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) are incorporated in DataDepot ’s processing and procedural infrastructure to ensure full compliance for clients. EMA is committed to complying with HIPAA and to ensuring that our employees understand their role in protecting the privacy, confidentiality and security of the info they safeguard.
- Secure Facility: EMA monitors all detection devices 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. In addition, an off-site system is used to monitor security and fire systems for the facility. Our facility complies with industry standards regarding building construction, environmental controls, fire protection, smoking, and safety codes.
